Luminex and Mainline Information Systems Announce TotalStorage Proven™ Certification of the Virtual|BLUE 3990 Controller for Use with z800 Servers and FAStTT RAID Systems
Riverside , CA , January 20, 2004. Luminex Software, Inc., a leading developer of data distribution, archiving and storage products, and Mainline Information Systems, Inc., an IBM™ Premier Business Partner™ and solutions provider, today announced that Luminex's Virtual|BLUE 3990 controller has successfully completed interoperability testing with the IBM z800 server and FAStT RAID Disk Storage in Mainline's labs and been granted TotalStorage Proven certification by IBM.
The IBM TotalStorage Proven program is designed to test the interoperability of vendor products with IBM storage offerings and provide certification that approved vendor products will operate in accordance with the interoperability guidelines of the IBM TotalStorage Proven program.
Under its agreement with Luminex, Mainline will offer Luminex's Virtual|BLUE 3990 controller technology with IBM FAStT RAID Systems and z800 servers to its customers throughout North America . Virtual|BLUE 3990 is the first disk vendor-independent controller that allows customers to natively use open systems disk storage solutions with mainframes. Specifically, the Virtual|BLUE 3990 controller makes FAStT storage fully accessible to applications running under VM, VSE, MVS, OS/390, z/OS and z/VM.
"Mainline is pleased that Luminex's Virtual|BLUE 3990 interoperability testing within Mainline's labs resulted in TotalStorage Proven certification," said Roger Luca, Mainline's Senior Vice President. "The TotalStorage Proven certification will enable our customers to purchase and deploy integrated z800, FAStT and Virtual|BLUE 3990 systems with confidence."
"IBM's TotalStorage Proven certification of Luminex's Virtual|BLUE 3990 controller delivers confirmation of our product's interoperability, providing Mainline's customers with the confidence to deploy Virtual|BLUE 3990 with the z800 server and FAStT Storage," said Michael Saunders, President of Luminex. About IBM TotalStorage Proven Program
The IBM TotalStorage Proven Program builds on IBM's already extensive interoperability efforts to develop and deliver products and solutions that work together with third party products. The program identifies storage solutions and configurations for customers that have been pre-tested for interoperability, helping to provide faster and more reliable installations for customers. The TotalStorage Proven Program supports the ability of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology on leading storage platforms, as well as reduce solution design time when multiple, tested building blocks have already been pre-tested.
