Luminex Announces CD Library Solutions for Video Streaming Now Integrated with Silicon Graphics' WebFORCE Mediabase
Riverside, CA - October 29, 1997 - Luminex Software, Inc. announces their Fire Series(TM) CD library solutions are now integrated with Silicon Graphics(R) WebFORCE(R) MediaBase 2.0. Silicon Graphics' WebFORCE Mediabase is a leading high performance solution for video streaming. The Luminex Fire Series is the leading high performance product line of CD library based archiving and retrieval solutions. Integrated together, this combination offers video streaming capabilities to video libraries of hundreds or thousands of CDs.

CD is an excellent archive and storage media for video files. CDs are a cost-effective, reliable, standards-based archive media and are perfect for long-term storage and retrieval of video files. Using the Luminex Fire Series solutions, WebFORCE MediaBase users have transparent file access to an unlimited number of CDs. The Luminex software takes advantage of data streaming from CD using its extensive file and data block caching features for increased performance.
The Luminex LSX-CDL-100(TM) CD library incorporates four 12X CD drives, five 20 disc removable magazines and requires only a single SCSI ID. The library and software are field upgradeable to new drive and media technologies, such as DVD. Currently customers of the Luminex CD library solutions support video and file archives of up to 6000 CDs for internet based access.
